1) Where are you from and how old are you?<\/strong>
I’m originally from Romania but I currently live in the UK. I’m soon to be 24 years old.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2) How did you first discover Minecraft, and what drew you to it?<\/strong>
I remember it very clearly, in primary school I had a friend who was known throughout the school as having the coolest games. One day he sat us down and showed us a Youtube video of someone playing Minecraft. I was immediately hooked, I knew I had to play it, you could do just about anything in it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3) How did you become a builder for Project Zearth, and what motivated you to join?<\/strong>
I used to build a lot for Build The Earth during the pandemic. While I enjoyed reproducing buildings that already existed, I realised that I really missed coming up with buildings of my own, and I happened to come across Project Zearth while I was considering starting a new creative world. The project gave me so much nostalgia that I applied immediately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4) Can you share a memorable or challenging experience you’ve had while working on Project Zearth?<\/strong>
I remember when I started my first proper building in Santoria, I started with the wool volumetry technique I learned working on BTE and was just about to get to build the final cladding when I realised that without having something to pick the colours off of I had no idea how to move forward. Thankfully my project manager granted me W\/E permissions so the threshold of changing all of those wool blocks into something else was easier, so I could experiment until I found something that let the building blend in well with the surroundings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5) What architectural styles, themes, or projects do you find most inspiring and enjoy working on?<\/strong>
I really like brutalism and internationalism as architectural styles and I hope to one day get to apply them in Zearth, but generally working on any modern project or skyscraper makes me happy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

6) How do you collaborate and connect with other builders within the Project Zearth community? Could you share a successful collaboration story?<\/strong>
I love joining events with other builders especially since they aren’t all just about building but they are a lot about messing around and really forming those bonds in the community. Something that happened recently that I’d call a collaboration success has been how we’ve been splitting the work in Santoria, working on plots rather than building has helped me get a better sense of ownership and it’s really helped me integrate my work into the other builders’ while giving me enough wiggle room to come up with pretty much anything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

7) What’s your favorite thing to do in Minecraft outside of building?<\/strong>
I really like walking around builds and genuinely imagining myself being there, immersing myself into the surroundings and enjoying the atmosphere. I also really like taking pictures with shaders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

8) What is your favorite accomplishment or proudest moment during your time on Project Zearth?<\/strong>
I think my proudest moment was when I offered to develop a plot of land in Santoria. By that point, I\u2019d built up enough credibility within the project that the others were more than happy to trust me with it. There was something really rewarding about realising that the work I\u2019d done up to that point had earned me that kind of confidence from the people around me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

9) How has your experience on Project Zearth influenced your real-world creativity, if at all?<\/strong>
I’d say that the biggest contribution it’s had so far has been that I’ve managed to get back into Minecraft Creative and I often use it as a way to decompress after work. As a grown up player, I sometimes felt like my time to simply have fun with the game was over, that if I was going to keep playing, I had to be working toward something objectively impressive, like an insane hardcore world or some other massive achievement. But Project Zearth helped me recontextualise the way I approach the game, it showed me that something can be ambitious and meaningful without feeling like a constant pursuit of achievement, and, in a way, taught me how to have fun with the game again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

10) Looking ahead, are there any new Minecraft features, updates, or directions you’re excited to explore?<\/strong>
As a builder it feels like every update brings something new that I can use, be that either the missing link in a gradient or a new way to texture a difficult detail. One thing I’ve been excited for has been coloured stairs and slabs, it’s neat to rely less on plank colour magic and to have proper concrete and wool half blocks and I’m looking forward to get to build with them<\/p>\n\n\n\n

11) Outside of Minecraft, what are your hobbies and interests? Do they influence your building style in any way?<\/strong>
In my day to day I’m deeply passionate about architecture and structural engineering and I follow pretty much every major construction project world-wide. One way this has impacted my building style is that I always try to make my buildings make sense in terms of structure, I try to think where the columns and girders would be placed and which designs make sense from a weight bearing perspective. I also try to think of economic and legal factors which often govern architecture in the real life, if I were to design a building like this, would it preserve sightlines? Would we be maximising the prime real estate or commercial space on the property?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
