Shaping the World Behind Zearth

Published by Project_Zearth on

On a project as large and evolving as Project Zearth, some of the most impactful work happens quietly in the background—shaping landscapes, connecting cities, and making the world feel alive long before players notice the details. Few people embody that role better than Picorims, whose contributions stretch across terraforming, infrastructure, planning, and even server configuration.

A Jack of All Trades on Zearth

Defining Picorims role on Project Zearth isn’t straightforward—and that’s exactly the point.

Throughout Version 15, Picorims work has shifted constantly depending on the project’s needs. A significant portion of that time has been spent on terraforming, especially for Nova, but also on improving existing areas such as Santoria’s ocean sections and the map borders, ensuring the world feels cohesive rather than stitched together.

Beyond terraforming, Picorims has contributed to urban planning, particularly in the suburban areas of Prixton, though more selectively. Infrastructure is another key area of involvement: bridges, avenues, marinas, boat stops, and public spaces like parks all fall under their umbrella. On top of that, Picorims occasionally assists with server configuration, handling permissions and technical setups when needed.

With such a wide range of responsibilities, Picorims describes their role best as a “Jack of all trades.”

What stands out most, however, is their love for terraforming.

“Terraforming is very enjoyable and relaxing—at least when the server does not crash every five minutes or take dozens of seconds to react.”

Organic work, especially when done with tools rather than block-by-block placement, is where Picorims feels most at ease. Large builds can be exciting too, but they come with a cost—long projects can drain energy and motivation over time, making them both rewarding and frustrating in equal measure.

A Terraforming Project Years in the Making

Highlighted Project: Nova Terraforming

If there’s one project Picorims is most proud of, it’s the terraforming work done for Nova.

Started as early as 2020 or 2021, this project represents Picorims most ambitious undertaking on Project Zearth to date. Not only is it the largest terraforming effort they’ve ever attempted, but it also pushed their skills further than any previous project.

Despite still being unfinished—and missing much of its final detailing—the terrain already stands out for its natural shapes and terrain “painting.” Picorims is particularly happy with how the landforms turned out structurally, even while acknowledging that organic detailing and fine painting still have room to improve.

What makes the Nova terraforming special isn’t flashiness or immediate attention-grabbing detail. Instead, its strength lies in its purpose.

“It is not really shiny or anything, but it stands there and fills the emptiness.”

Nova’s terrain serves as a backdrop—especially to Prixton—giving scale, depth, and context to the surrounding builds. As detailing continues and other builders begin to integrate their own creations into the landscape, the area will become even richer and more alive.

Rather than dominating the scene, the terrain quietly supports everything around it—exactly the kind of work that defines Picorims contribution to Project Zearth.

Final Note

Picorims work is a reminder that world-building isn’t only about landmarks and skylines. Sometimes, it’s the land beneath them—the slopes, coastlines, and distant horizons—that make a project feel complete.
